Lord My Healer

The man bowed low before the Healer, covering his face with his tattered coat. Long ago, he had been banished from his home to live outside the city with others suffering the same affliction. This was his destiny until he was cured, no longer contagious, or simply dead. Coming out to meet the Healer brought great risk. Jewish law declared him unclean and forbid him from mingling with the public. He looked around nervously, alert for the law keepers and those who often threw rocks to keep people like him at a safe distance.  By now, the disease was advanced. It had destroyed his nerve endings leaving unrecognizable clumps of damaged tissue where his toes, fingers and nose once had been. In spite of his repulsive appearance, the Healer reached out and touched him. He had not felt the touch of a human hand in so long. The touch alone held so much love it would have satisfied him. At that same moment, the lesions instantly disappeared, and his skin was restored as a curious power gentl
